$250 Campaign Update – A Letter From the South Australian Premier

The South Australian Premier Steven Marshall has written to us endorsing our campaign for a $250 minimum fee for all gigs funded with public money.

The South Australian Government has agreed to publish a link to the Musicians Australia web page in the guidelines for state-funded programs, which also includes links to various industry standards and award rates.

This response from the South Australian Government is encouraging, but we need to keep pushing to ensure Musicians Australiaā€™s $250 minimum fee guarantee gets written into all guidelines for COVID-19 government grants. Doing so will beĀ an important first step towards winning fair fees industry-wide.

But we need your help.

If we are to continue to have constructive talks with other State governments and get them to act, we need you to keepĀ spreading the message to other musicians about why a $250 minimum fee guarantee is so important.

You can do this by having a conversation with your friends and colleagues about why fair fees are important to you,Ā focusing on the progress we have made (including with the above letter from the South Australian Premier), but alsoĀ emphasising that we need them to stand with us as union members for us to achieve the end goal.

You can also help get the word out by liking, commenting, and sharing our posts onĀ FacebookĀ andĀ Instagram.
